Our Training Philosophy:

The hardest part of finding a dog trainer is deciding on which qualifications and training philosophies are important to you. Here's our recommendation! 

 

First, don't rely on anyone's opinion. Dominance theory, "alpha dog," and punishment-based training is so 1970! This is the 20th century - we now have 50+ years of research in animal ethology, behavior, behavior analysis, and training that tell us punishment-based training can increase stress, anxiety, and even aggression in dogs. Why use these outdated, possibly harmful methods that were popularized on TV decades ago? 

 

Here at Barks and Rec., we use only science-based, minimally intrusive methods of training. No breed of dog ever needs a heavy hand. Choke collars, pinch collars, electric collars, and other methods of punishment are never needed to teach obedience or behavior modification.
